Liberated in the Jubilee
Luke 13 is the story of a woman bowed over with infirmity. As she entered the synagogue there was obvious emptiness and despair on her countenance. She sat down to hear Jesus speak, when to her surprise, Jesus addressed her and her condition directly. He instructed her to stand up straight, because as a daughter of Abraham, she is loosed!
What did that mean? Jesus was telling her that she had an inheritance because of the covenant God made with Abraham. Because of that covenant, she could receive the healing!
I believe that when Jesus challenged her, confusion struck her life. She had never heard before that she could be set free. Now that she did hear it, she was challenged to either respond or do nothing. Thank God she responded because she was made whole just as Jesus promised! The lesson from this story is that when Jesus promises us victory from His Word - He will deliver what He promised!
In many ways we are like that woman, even if we don't have a physical infirmity. It could be an emotional, financial, or relational infirmity that bows our life. It doesn't matter what it is, if it's something that restricts our life.
The good news of the Jubilee from Jesus was ought not you be loosed! AND that good news is still alive TODAY!
Don't become accustomed to your condition that you feel you deserve it or that you can't imagine yourself any other way. You must see Jesus as your Jubilee! He is the solution and answer to your dilemma. That day Jesus again proved to the religious leaders that He was the Jubilee, and it was no longer a year. Those religious leaders had no problem with the woman's healing, but they had a problem with the day that it happened on. However, Jesus made it clear that it was not about the day or year, it was about the person and the Jubilee is now Him!
He made the provision in covenant, and TODAY we have covenant rights and an inheritance to all that Jesus accomplished.
What can prevent us from receiving our inheritance in Jesus?
1. Living in a lie and not the truth...
The devil is the father of lies and there is no truth in him. He will tell you that your present condition is what you deserve in life. That's a lie! "Ought not you in covenant with Jesus to be loosed?" YES you should be, and so be sure to look up the truth of God's Word and covenant promises, and don't believe the lie that you are not worthy. That woman was still bound to her condition when Jesus told her she was free. But if she believed that she was not free, her condition would not have been loosed. You are free, and today you can begin to walk in that freedom!
2. Fear will keep you bound...
Fear is the reciprocal of faith. If you function in fear you can't function in faith. Fear enlarges the lie and is designed to cripple you from embracing faith in God's Word.
Live in the truth of God's Word and put your faith in what God says, not the lies of fear!
3. You are bound when you lack knowledge of your covenant rights...
You can be part of an inheritance and not even know it, and as a result, you will not receive from that inheritance. You need the knowledge of your inheritance rights in Jesus Christ, and you need to declare and demand them. You are not demanding of God, you are simply demanding to receive what He already gave you.
4. You are kept bound when we allow circumstances to dictate our course in life...
You can't allow any problem in life to become bigger than God's Word and promises! Also, many times the problems of other people seem greater than your circumstance, and so the idea that "you are better off than that other person" causes you to accept your condition. Don't allow your condition to keep you from your rightful position in Jesus Christ. You are a priest, king, and royal priesthood! Don't let your circumstances or conditions dictate your course, but instead let God dictate your course in life. When Isaiah said Jesus name shall be called wonderful - His name means miracles! We sing "Jesus, Jesus, Jesus there is something about that name..." It's Miracles! Jesus is the miracle in your life and for your life. Ask yourself today, "Ought not I be loosed?" If you are in covenant with God the answer is YES! Take your rightful position and receive your Jubilee!
