Covid-19 Church Service update
Dear Church Family and Friends,
As everything continually seems to be changing by the minute, I would like to take a moment to encourage you from the Scriptures.
Psalm 46:1-5 - "God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. So we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea.Let the oceans roar and foam. Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge! A river brings joy to the city of our God, the sacred home of the Most High. God dwells in that city; it cannot be destroyed. From the very break of day, God will protect it."
In the unknown of what is happening globally, let’s all take time each day to rest in the presence of God. As the scripture above declares, He is our Refuge (our protection, a place free from worry, anxiety or distress) and Strength (the one who gives us the ability to keep moving forward with endurance).
What are the latest updates for the church and church ministries?
The health and safety of our church family are of the utmost importance. Over the past week, we have been dialoguing about various ways we can continue to meet the spiritual needs of the SCC family. Today, I have made the most difficult decision to temporarily suspend services and any small groups that meet together at the church. It truly breaks my heart that we have come to this point. The most recent update on the cases in NY involving two Hamburg residents is alarming and warrants a need to make this difficult decision. We must continue to walk in faith and use Godly wisdom while also following the state / local government requirements for public gatherings.
What will the services look like for now?
Starting this Sunday, March 22, 2020, we will be streaming our morning service online at www.sccministries.org. (You can click on the watch now link to view the available service) The service will begin airing at 10 am every Sunday morning until we are able to gather at the church. Our Generation Kids Sunday School will also be providing teachings and fun extras to keep our children connected to God. These videos will also be available on the SCC website.
We are learning as we go. Please be patient, as this is all new. We will continue to seek God for the direction and next steps He has for the SCC ministry and families.
Ways to continue giving the Tithe and Offering:
Covid-19 has had a major financial effect on almost every area of business and our own personal lives. Unfortunately, it is also having a major effect on the church. As I shared previously, the church doesn’t receive funding or aid like many other organizations/businesses in situations like this. With moving our service to online, SCC still faces the challenges of meeting our weekly budget. Like many other ministries, we have the same operational expenses to run the ministry on a daily basis and fulfill God’s call given to us as a community church. I would like to encourage everyone to continue to be faithful with the giving of the tithe during this crisis.
Giving may continue by:
1) Bringing the tithe and offering to the church office.
2) Using the online option at our website www.sccministries.org
(There is a video link to view on how you can set up online giving)
3) Mailing it to Southtowns Christian Center PO Box 10 Lake View NY, 14085.
This will help allow us to continue to fulfill the call on SCC, serving you, your family and the families in our community.
Thank you for your continued support of SCC. Please know we are here for you and don’t hesitate to reach out or email your prayer requests. We are all in this together with God still sitting on the throne in control. Stay strong, be positive and always remain connected to God allowing the Holy Spirit to minister life to you and your family.
